WEEE Regulations

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Recycling Information

Recycling Your Electrical Equipment

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations were introduced to minimise the amount of electrical waste sent to landfill and to encourage the reuse, recovery and recycling of electrical and electronic products.

Electrical and electronic equipment should not be disposed of with general waste. Instead, it should be taken to an authorised collection, treatment or recycling facility, where it can be processed in an environmentally responsible way.

Why Recycle Electrical Equipment?

Many electrical products contain materials that can be recovered and reused.

Crossed-Out Wheelie Bin Symbol

Products marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol should not be disposed of with general household or commercial waste.

This symbol indicates that the product should be collected separately for appropriate treatment, recovery and recycling in accordance with local regulations.

WEEE Take-Back and Recycling

Customers wishing to dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment should use an authorised WEEE collection or recycling facility.

Local authority recycling centres and designated collection points are available throughout the UK. Information regarding local recycling facilities can be obtained from your local authority.
